Dr. Shaida Sina

Licensed Naturopathic Medical Doc

Medicine is in Dr Shaida Sina’s blood! Meaning, she comes from a long line of doctors going back generations. Her grandfather was a military surgeon, and grandmother was a midwife where they practiced the old medicine very much like Naturopathy. When the new medicine of the 20th century began, her grandfather sent her father Bahram to Paris France where he was trained as a medical doctor. Bahram specialized in dermatology and pioneered the field of dermatopathology lecturing around the world. Her father Dr. Bahram Sina practiced medicine in the United States for the next 75 years having 3 private practices, and he worked as a professor of medicine at 4 hospitals: Lutheran Hospital, University of Maryland, The VA, and George Town University. He retired at age 90!

First generation American, Dr. Shaida Sina has over 40 years of experience working in the field of medicine. She began her love affair with medicine when she was given a microscope at age 6. This gave her a different view of life at a young age. When she was 11 years old, she went to work at her father’s medical office answering phones, scheduling appointments. By high school she assisted her father in minor surgery and sterilizing his instruments.

Following family tradition, her initial training began in clinical pathology where she received her associate degree in Laboratory Medicine from Stevenson University. While working in clinical laboratory medicine she finished her Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Medical Research and Technology from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Her clinical training was primarily at Johns Hopkins Hospital and University of Maryland Hospital. Prior to Dr. Sina doctorate, she worked as a medical scientist in chemistry, hematology, special hematology, special coagulation, shock trauma, neonatal intensive care, and infectious diseases at the University of Maryland Medical Center for 12 years.

Dr. Sina then began her doctorate studies in medicine in 1995 at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona where she graduated with her doctorate as a Naturopathic Medical Doctor in 2001. Dr. Sina was the first naturopathic medical student to do a rotation at Mayo Clinic in the area of infertility in 2001 which is still an area of clinical interest. Then Dr. Sina went on to complete her postdoctoral training in the field of environmental medicine with an emphasis on chemical and metal detoxification in 2003 with Dr. Walter Crinnion. Early in her career while seeing patients Dr. Sina served as an exam writer for 5 years for laboratory medicine for students taking their medical license.
